What is ‘Simchat Torah’?
Simchat Torah is a transliteration of שמחת תורה. It means “Joy of Torah” or “Rejoicing with/of the Torah”. There is a Jewish holiday by that name. But to me, שמחת תורה means the joy of studying and learning from the Torah.
G-d has many wonderful things to teach us. He has given us standards of behavior for our relationship with Him, and standards of behavior for our relationships with other people. He wants us to be in a righteous relationship with Him and with each other. Torah is where He wrote those standards for us.
I take great joy in studying Torah. I hope you will come to as well.
Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim,
