The Sun, The Moon, and The Stars
Jews are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We have Christians trying to lure Jews away from G-d and Muslims trying to kill us. Religious death vs Physical death. And the narrow path of Torah walks right between them.
Does Scripture show us this struggle? Follow me and we’ll take a close look…
He had another dream which he told his brothers: “Here, I had another dream, and there were the sun, the moon and eleven stars prostrating themselves before me.” – B’reshet (Genesis) 37:9
This is, of course, Yosef talking to his brothers. Yosef was a forerunner of the Messiah. He was, in essence, a shadow of what Yeshua would come to do.
1) Yosef was a son of Isra’el (formerly Ya’akov); Yeshua is also a son of Isra’el.
2) Yosef was sold into slavery to Egypt; Yeshua was sold into slavery to death.
3) Yosef escaped slavery and became master in the land under Pharoh; Yeshua escaped slavery and will become the King of Kings under Y-H-V-H.
4) Yosef provided salvation for his family by giving them food; Yeshua provided salvation for His family by being the Bread of Heaven and sacrificing Himself for us.
5) Yosef had 11 brothers; Yeshua has 11 brothers. Each brother represents a tribe of Isra’el. Yeshua is from the tribe of Yehuda. There are 11 other tribes or “brothers” to Yeshua.
There are multiple meanings to this dream. The first is the plain reading as that which is most commonly known. Yoself was talking about his brothers (the 11 stars), his mother (the moon), and his father (the sun). But there is a deeper meaning to the dream.
When looking at Yosef as a shadow of Yeshua, we can see something different. The sun is representative of Christians. The moon is representative of Muslims. And the Stars are representative of the Jews.
For the same reason, do not look up at the sky, at the sun, moon, stars and everything in the sky, and be drawn away to worship and serve them; ADONAI your God has allotted these to all the peoples under the entire sky. – D’varim (Deuteronomy) 4:19
by going and serving other gods and worshipping them, the sun, the moon, or anything in the sky – something I have forbidden – D’varim (Deuteronomy) 17:3
In addition to their plain meanings, these are warnings not to worship the sun (Christianity), the Moon (Islam), or the Stars (the Jews). Yes, the Jews are not to be worshipped. The only one to be worshipped is Adonai.
Christians, examine your Bibles closely. Nowhere did Yeshua say to pray to Him. Instead He said to pray to the Father. Indeed, even in “The Lord’s Prayer”, Yeshua did not mention anything about “in Jesus’ name” or “in My name”, etc. The pattern (for lack of a better word) for prayer does not include anything about Yeshua. Prayer is only to be given to the Father.
Then the moon will be confused and the sun ashamed, for ADONAI-Tzva’ot will rule on Mount Tziyon and in Yerushalayim, with his glory manifest to the rulers of his people. – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 24:23
This speaks of the end times when Messiah will return. The Muslims (moon) will be confused as it won’t be Allah, Mohammed, or the Mahdi who are returning. The Christians (sun) will be ashamed as they have been serving a false god believing it to be the One True G-d.
So how do I know that Christians are represented by the sun, Muslims by the moon, and Jews by the Stars? I’ll show you…
Christians:
Christians worship on the Day of the Sun (aka – Sunday) because their religion is based on the worship of the Roman sun god. If you are a Christian, that may be hard for you to accept, but it is the truth. The next part may be even harder for you to accept.
In approx. 320 AD, the Roman Emporer Constantine “converted” to “Christianity” (it wasn’t called this for some time). Prior to his “conversion”, he was a worshipper of the Roman sun god. In 321 AD instituted dies Solis (Day of the Sun; aka – Sunday) as the Roman day of worship. Indeed, the festival of Sol Invictus is where the date for Christmas comes from.
Constantine had a simple political problem and found a simple way to deal with it. The Romans had more trouble with the Jews than with any other group of people. Constant rebellions, near riots, and the refusal to bow down to Rome. Those Jews who recognized Yeshua as Torah in the Flesh were, to some extent, even more troublesome. By claiming to convert, Constantine was able to overcome many objections to his actions from those who followed Yeshua; At least by those who were in the diaspora. By then adding in his old pagan ways, he was able to bring his own gods into the mix and introduce pagan worship among Ha’Ameniem (The Believers). It was not until Constantine began this merge that Christianity, as it exists today, truely came into being.
Christianity has a long history of trying, and mostly succeeding, to absorb other religions and practices. From Constantine’s conversion through today, Christianity seeks to be the One World Religion so often spoken of in the Bible. And it isn’t spoken about in a good way.
Even though the Bible specifically states that “Jesus” (whose name-form comes from the Greek ‘Zues’) is the “Word of G-d made flesh” and Christians profess that the Bible is the Word of G-d, Christians chose not to obey that Word and, indeed, attempt to convert those who do believe and obey that Word (i.e. – Jews).
A simple logistical excersize shows that if (1) the Bible is the Word of G-d and (2) Yeshua is the Word of G-d, then (3) the Bible is Yeshua (just in written form). As the Jews do follow the Bible (Yeshua did not invalidate or terminate the ‘Old Testament’), they ARE following Yeshua and do not need conversion. In fact, there isn’t anything new in the ”New Testament”. All of the prophecies written in the B’rit Chadashah were first given in the Tanakh.
Side Note: I find it fascinating how many paintings, portraits, photographs, sketchings, etc. there are that depict a cross being formed by the rays of the sun.
Muslims:
The Crescent Moon. Little more needs to be said in this case. The symbol of Islam is the “Star and Crescent”. Believe it or not, there is more to the issue.
Allah, the “god” whom Muslims worship, is actually an ancient Babylonian minor moon god. He wasn’t a big deal to most Babylonias, being regarded as little more than a servant (slave) to Marduk who was the Babylonian’s sun god and chief diety. The Muslim symbol and their “god” both demonstrate that the moon being referenced is Islam.
Jews:
The six pointed star has long been used to symbolize those that the world called Jews (they are, more properly, Hebrews). Hitler used armbands bearing the ‘Star of David’ to identify Jews. Muslims did the same during the early periods that they attempted to exterminate the Jews. The earliest known usage, however, was neither of these.
‘Magen David’ (pronounced: Mah-gen Dah-veed) does not mean “Star of David”, but rather “Shield of David”. The Magen David was used by the troops of David haMelech (David the King) for three purposes.
1) As the name implies, it was a shield that was used to stop arrows, swords, and other weapons of war. The shape made it highly effective and lightweight.
2) The six points enabled the Magen David to double as a weapon. With this weapon you had six sharp points and could strike from virtually any position.
3) Magen David was also a calendar. Modern depictions of the magen show only six points. On the real Magen David, however, there were seven. The seventh was on the front of the shield as what we would call a spike. The six outer points of the shield stood for the first six days of the week. The “spike” (so to speak) represented the Shabbat. In this way, even the soldiers in the field knew when Shabbat was.
Incidentally, the “spike” also allowed a thrusting motion to compliment the slashing motion of the other six points.
Conclusion:
The Hebrews (aka – Jews), G-d’s Chosen People, are caught between the sun worshipping Christians and the moon worshipping Muslims. One attempts to destroy the Hebrew soul while the other attempts to destroy the Hebrew body.
While I pray for individual people to come to the truth, I also pray that the enemies of G-d are struck down and utterly destroyed. I pray that G-d uses a few of His enemies as object lessons to the others and that they [the others] will turn from their sin and toward Him.
Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim,
Jason
